Oakdene’s Fireworks Display

oakdenes firework night

This year, we brought fireworks night to the residents at Oakdene Care Home.

As the nights have got darker and the weather colder, at Oakdene Care Home we wanted to host something for our residents to look forward to and enjoy. At this time of year, there are many fireworks displays and bonfire nights held in local communities. This year, we decided to bring the fireworks to Oakdene.

We put on a vibrant and colourful fireworks display from our private garden with the help of our Gardener, Wayne, and Maintenance Man, Lee. Our Head Chef, Jamie also cooked up some really delicious treats including hot dogs and his very own hot cocoa, which was enjoyed by all.

It was a beautiful evening, celebrated with staff, residents, their families, and also members of our local community. We are delighted to have been able to bring everyone together, wrap up warm, and make wonderful memories. We even ended the night by having some fun with sparklers!

We understand that this time of year can be difficult for many, and the colder and darker days can make it harder to feel motivated. Our activities team recognises the importance of keeping residents active and stimulated and goes to great lengths to ensure that residents' days are fun and varied.

We also incorporate themes from this time of year, such as Guy Fawkes and Christmas, and collaborate with residents and relatives to include their traditions which we know is important for reminiscence.

We have a fantastic team here at Oakdene and we would like to thank them for helping make this a special celebration for our residents. We look forward to welcoming more relatives and members of the local community to our home again soon.
