Meet Maple the Bear – Our Very Own Mascot!

We are thrilled to introduce our very own mascot, Maple the Bear, who has quickly become a beloved member of our Oakdene Care Home family. Maple brings smiles to everyone she meets, and our residents are particularly fond of following her exciting adventures as she travels the world with staff members!

Recently, Maple went on her first trip abroad with Remy, one of our dedicated staff members, to the sunny island of Rhodes. Our residents loved hearing all about Maple’s fun-filled holiday, especially her time at the waterpark, where she posed for a picture on a beautiful elephant statue. Remy captured lovely photos of Maple at the airport, eagerly waiting for her flight, bringing these moments back to share with our residents.

But Maple’s adventures don’t stop there! She’ll soon be jetting off again with Millie, our administrator, to explore Croatia. Our residents can’t wait to see what Maple will get up to next!

Bringing Joy to the Home and Community

The idea for Maple came from our deputy manager, Heidi, who thought it would be a wonderful way to engage the residents and give them something fun to look forward to. Hearing stories about Maple’s travels brings joy to everyone, sparking conversations and creating excitement when she returns from her trips. It’s a fun and heartwarming way for our residents to connect with the world beyond Oakdene.

Maple has also been active in the local community with our residents. She recently visited St Antony’s Church, where the residents attend Sunday services. The local vicar and community members were delighted by Maple’s visit, and even our friendly taxi driver couldn’t resist taking a photo with her!

Maple’s Grand Tour of Oakdene

One of our residents, Linda, took a special liking to Maple and gave her a personal tour of her new home at Oakdene. Linda proudly escorted Maple around in her bag, introducing her to the other residents, who loved meeting their new furry friend.

Maple’s presence has brought a lot of joy and fun to both our home and the wider community. She’s more than just a mascot—she’s a source of happiness, bringing laughter and excitement to our residents as they eagerly await her next adventure. We can’t wait to see where Maple will go next and the memories she’ll create along the way!
