residents enjoying an icecream

Fun in the Sun at Oakdene Care Home

This month at Oakdene, we have had a great time taking residents on outings, enjoying some entertainment, ice creams in the garden and making the most of the beautiful weather we’ve had.

A lot of our residents requested a visit to the aquarium so on Friday 3rd May we took a group of our residents down to Bournemouth for the day. They spent the day playing with penguins and interacting with sharks and sting rays before enjoying a packed lunch from Michelle and Remy with some rainbow cake down the seafront. This was a super day out for everybody involved, and one of our residents told us it was the best day ever!

When the sunshine finally arrived late last week, we made the most of the warmer weather by having a sing-along with entertainer Mike Sideway followed by karaoke hosted by our very own Susan. When the weather permits, we try to make use of our private gardens and patio as much as possible, as it is one of our residents’ favourite facilities.

The sing-along and karaoke were brilliant, with both residents and staff members getting involved and topping up their vitamin D. With the weather being so lovely, we also brought out the BBQ which put a smile on everybody's faces. To finish off our great month, we also had our favourite ice cream van come round to give everybody a sweet treat!

At Oakdene Care Home, our residents' wellbeing is our top priority and our team goes above and beyond to ensure we offer our residents the best quality of life. We loved seeing the joy on our residents’ faces and constantly proves to us why we love what we do. As part of our activities programme, our activities coordinators take into consideration all of our residents’ preferences and plan activities that everybody can enjoy, no matter what their care needs are.
